When I talk to clients, I frequently hear the same thing over and over again. We have an ISO group, we have a Lean Team, we do 6-Sigma, or Agile, or CMMI or . . .. Each of these models, methods, and tools has something to offer. The challenge is how to take the best features of each without such a tremendous overlap that the Cost to the organization exceeds its Value, making it untenable.
We’ve developed a hybrid methodology that combines the various strategies mentioned above without the non-value added overlap. With current process improvement efforts running 5% – 7% of an organization’s budget, and many of the above having significant overlap, sometimes in the range of up to 80%, there’s a significant savings to be had. Just considering the case of two overlapping initiatives; your 100 person organization is spending three extra FTEs on mostly duplicative effort for no additional value/benefit.
If at some point you need to proclaim publicly that you’ve achieved a measure of success with your initiatives, we can combine audits/assessments/appraisals to decrease the cost of those activities as well.
